IUI is a modern scientific treatment for infertility. In this treatment husband's semen is processed in the dedicated IUI laboratory to isolate the fast moving sperms, which are then transferred through a purpose built catheter by the lady doctor. These sperms then interact with the egg already present in the fallopian tube for conception.
Every married couple facing difficulty in conception can choose IUI for their treatment. For a successful outcome woman's fallopian tubes must be open and husband's sperms must be motile.
IUI is a simple treatment and does not involve any kind of pain, operation or hospital admission. The procedure is completed in two hours and the woman can continue her daily life as per routine.
There is no limit on the number of times IUI is used as treatment. It can be repeated as many times as one can afford, till pregnancy is achieved.
Twin pregnancies are common in IUI treatment and gender selection for baby is also an option.
The success rate of IUI is higher in younger women who have good quality fallopian tubes and when men have got sperms with higher count and good motility. Generally quoted success rate for IUI is 15- 25%.
IUI is permissible according to Islamic and Pakistani laws and it has repeatedly been approved by Islamic scholars.
